The Coat of Arms of the Fraternity

The main charge consists of three equal-armed Greek crosses – in reference to the cross in the state coat of arms. The number of crosses may symbolise the Christian and national character of the fraternity, the Holy Trinity, the virtues and the like; moreover, in terms of composition, three elements are excellently suited to filling the field of a Gothic shield.

The colours derive from our national colours – white, blue, red. The tinctures of the individual elements correspond to those of the state coat of arms, i.e. the field of the shield is red, the main charge silver (white) and the supplementary element – the bordure – blue.

The design of our emblem does not follow all the principles of the design of fraternity coats of arms as they developed in the German lands or in Austria, since these contain a large number of non-heraldic elements. The simplicity of the representation is intended to contribute to easy recognisability, memorability and ease of reproduction.
